Dulcinea's Theme Song
“Dulcinea's Dream” — official biography track
Hoping to Be Seen on Novelty Hill
Dulcinea was first logged on August 15 on Novelty Hill: a little lime-green pumpkin with fine velvety fuzz, rooted in weedy, wet ground with no parent vine anyone could name. She is named for Dulcinea, Don Quixote's true love, and all season she edged out from under the big leaves, hoping to be seen. By mid-September she had turned a dark forest-green with golden mottling. On October 18, Hobart community day, she went home with the Cowboy Pinoy: 2 lb on the scale, 17 3/8 inches around and 16 3/4 inches over the top.
Things I Want the Cowboy Pinoy to Know
From Dulcinea, in her own words.
- When the grown-ups first found me, I was a little lime-green pumpkin in the weedy, wet ground on Novelty Hill, peeking out from under the big leaves.
- I'm named for Dulcinea, Don Quixote's true love. All season I kept edging out from the leaves, hoping somebody would see me.
- You did. You looked after every one of us all season, and then you took me home. Thank you, Cowboy Pinoy!
