Saphira's Theme Song
“Saphira the Dragon's Egg” — official biography track
The Dragon Egg of Warrior Hill
Saphira was first logged on August 3 on Warrior Hill, on the Dragon plant: a bright little lime-yellow pumpkin with a golden wash on top. She is named for a shiny dragon egg from a story. She pushed past the weeds, the purslane and the summer heat, and by early September she was turning a vibrant orange. At the October 16 walk-through weigh-in she was 6 lb 10 oz, 25 1/4 inches around and 24 1/4 inches over the top, and on October 18, Hobart community day, she went home with Jonny.
Things I Want Jonny to Know
From Saphira, in her own words.
- When the grown-ups first found me, I was a bright little lime-yellow pumpkin on the Dragon plant on Warrior Hill.
- I'm named for a dragon egg from a story. I pushed past the weeds and the summer heat, and I turned a fierce, bright orange.
- Every dragon needs a rider. Thank you for taking me home, Jonny!
