The Defender's Theme Song
“The Defender” — official biography track
The Lone Guard of Warrior Hill
The Defender was first logged on August 15 on Warrior Hill: a little lime-green pumpkin, guarded by rock and grass, and the only fruit the Sentry plant made all season. He held his ground against the weeds and had turned golden-yellow by early September. At the October 16 walk-through weigh-in he was 5 lb 12 oz, 26 1/4 inches around and 22 7/8 inches over the top, and on October 18, Hobart community day, he went home with a new family.
Things I Want My New Family to Know
From The Defender, in his own words.
- When the grown-ups first found me, I was a little lime-green pumpkin hiding by the rocks and the grass on Warrior Hill.
- I'm the only pumpkin that grew on the Sentry plant, so I stood guard all by myself. That's why they call me The Defender!
- Now I have a home of my own to guard. Thank you for taking me home!
