First Mate's Theme Song
“The Loyal First Mate” — official biography track
Why I Need to Be Adopted Today
Three things that make me different from every other kid in the Patch.
- My skin is fine crackly net pattern soft bumpy stripes 5-6 lines barely visible and not shiny. Nobody else in the Patch feels like me. You have to touch me to know.
- My stem is thick green with faint white striping slightly curved healthy firm attached to main vine. That is the handle you hold me by, and mine is a really good one.
- I got eight out of ten for being even all the way round. That means I sit flat on a step and I will not roll off it.

The Keeper of Novelty Hill
First Mate was named for the loyal second-in-command who sprouted in the Hobart WA patch near Champion, fighting slugs, summer heat, and tall grass crowding to become a bright rescue pumpkin for Ward Family Rescue kids to find. Today it reads as bright lemon-yellow smooth with pale lime wash at base fine matte fuzz. It weighs 1.52 lbs at the latest reading. No parent vine has been identified, so it is recorded as a volunteer. It grows in the Patchrealm of Novelty Hill, and it is looking for somebody to take it home any time.
Before you decide
There is a lot of family out here. If First Mate is not the one, one of these might be. Look for the sign, then look for the sticker.
