Shout the orange parts back!
Up on Novelty Hill, just where Maxwell Road curves 'round,
I put on my brightest orange, practiced every crooning sound;
But the party came and went, no Ding — ang isip ko'y parang bagyo,
Spinnin' 'round and 'round, like a carabao in a rodeo!
Who's the heartthrob of the Valley, sighin' on the vine? (HAJJI!)
Who's the lady on his mind, every single time? (DING!)
Kung tunay mo akong mahal, bakit mo 'kong hinayaang lumubog?
If you love me true, why'd you leave me sinkin' in the bog?
Then the news came down the vine: Lolo's tummy wasn't right — Susmarijosep!
So he stayed home from the party, and I dreamed of you all night;
Did you slip a little extra spice into Lolo's adobo?
Hindi ka ba nagsasawa sa gabi-gabing magkalayo tayo?
Who's the heartthrob of the Valley, sighin' on the vine? (HAJJI!)
Who's the lady on his mind, every single time? (DING!)
Kung tunay mo akong mahal, bakit mo 'kong hinayaang lumubog?
If you love me true, why'd you leave me sinkin' in the bog?
Ubos na ang luha ko, tuyo na ang puso, wala nang naghahatid ng pag-asa...
All my tears are gone, my heart's run dry, and there's nothing left to give me hope.
Then the Cowboy Pinoy picked me, hand-picked me just for Ding!
Two pounds, ten ounces and a bit, and oh, how I could sing!
Twenty-one inches 'round my chest, but seventeen over the top,
Built broad for one big love song, and I'll croon it till I drop!
Ngayong araw ka lang bumati, sa unang pagkakataon,
Nasa pintuan mo ako't luhaan — Ding, and look what's just begun:
Lolo helped feed the horses at the Ward Family Rescue,
Hay all winter in the barn, and every note of me for you!
Who's the heartthrob of Maple Valley, home and off the vine? (HAJJI!)
Who said hello at last, and right on time this time? (DING!)
Tunay mo nga akong mahal — no more sinkin' in the bog,
Now I'm home with Lola Ding, and I'm floatin' like a log!
Ding, it's me, your Hajji, from the Pipsqueak Pumpkin Patch to your door,
The heartthrob of Novelty Hill, and I'm crooning for you evermore.
for this one.
The Heartthrob of Novelty Hill
Hajji was added to the registry on October 25, after the last event of the season. He is named after Angelito "Hajji" Alejandro, the heartthrob of the Philippines in the 1970s, and like his namesake he is well formed and easy on the eyes. That same day he had his one and only weigh-in: 2 lb 10.6 oz on the scale, 21 1/8 inches around and 17 5/8 inches over the top, even bright orange with a long curved green stem. He grew on Novelty Hill. The Cowboy Pinoy hand-picked him for Ding, and he went home as a Hand-Picked for You gift that helped feed the Rescue's horses this winter.
Things I Want Ding to Know
From Hajji, in his own words.
- I'm named after a real heartthrob. When I sing my love songs, the ladies swoon!
- On the scale I weighed two pounds and ten ounces. I'm wider around than I am over the top, so there's lots of room for love songs.
- The Cowboy Pinoy hand-picked me just for you. Salamat, Ding! I'm all yours now.
